The Julia Ayres Art Scholarship is in memory of a dynamic artist who joyfully explored diverse media throughout her life. Julia had a particular interest in printmaking and wrote two books, Printmaking Techniques, and the seminal Monotypes: Mediums and Methods for Painterly Printmaking. She also wrote a number of articles for American Artist and Watercolor magazines, which ran the gamut from fostering spontaneity with starch painting to learning everything you ever wanted to know about brushes.
